Three local tourism projects receive more than $30,000 from Clackamas County

The Clackamas County Tourism Development Council has awarded Tourism Development Grants to local tourist sites.

The Sandy/Boring Corn Cross bike race was awarded $6,000, the Mt. Hood Moderated Lift-Served Mountain Bike Trail received $20,000, and the Mt. Hood Area Mountain Bike Clinic Series was awarded $8,350.

Clackamas County awarded a total of $200,000 to projects, seven of which support bicycle-related tourism.

“Each of the projects selected this year adds to our vision of growing and improving tourism assets and leveraging partnerships and investments. It's extremely exciting and rewarding to see the kinds of new visitor experiences that are being offered in Clackamas County,” said Danielle Cowan, executive director of Clackamas County Tourism & Cultural Affairs.

Grant applications were reviewed by a panel of county tourism staff and Tourism Development Council board members, Clackamas County Arts Alliance, Travel Oregon and Travel Portland representatives.

“These projects will truly enhance the recreational experiences offered in Oregon's Mt. Hood Territory, and will provide many new opportunities for marketing the county as a fun destination to visit,” said Daphne Wuest, board chairwoman.
