County certified assisters help citizens sign up for Cover Oregon

Clackamas County continues to sign people up for Cover Oregon before the deadline March 31

Despite recent confusing messages, Clackamas County clinics continue to sign up citizens for Cover Oregon before its enrollment closes March 31. They urge that the sooner people apply, the sooner their coverage can begin.

The Sandy Behavioral Health Center, 38872 Proctor Blvd., provides free enrollment assistance by a certified assister. In order to be certified, individuals must take 4.5 hours of training and pass a background check. Sandy’s bilingual enroller is available on Tuesdays and most Fridays. An appointment is necessary and can be made by calling 503-665-8336.

From 9 a.m. to noon Thursday, Dec. 19, sign-up fairs are happening at three Clackamas County clinics: Beavercreek Health and Wellness Center, 1425 Beavercreek Road, Oregon City; Sunnyside Health and Wellness Center, 9775 S.E. Sunnyside Road, Clackamas; and Hilltop Behavioral Health Center, 998 Library Court, Oregon City. No appointment is necessary.

“There have been some reports of Cover Oregon fraud,” said Julie Hertel, Clackamas County Cover Oregon program coordinator. “The state will not ask for personal information over the phone. If someone calls asking for an individual’s Social Security number, address, birth date or other personal information, they should hang up and report the incident to Cover Oregon.”
