Ambassador Dogs Haui and Karbon visited Sandy to teach about Clackamas County Dog Services

As a way to recognize that charitable organizations need support all year long, Sandy’s H&R Block office hosted a Clackamas Dogs Foundation event Saturday, March 1, at the Sandy office, 36961 Highway 26. H&R Block staff, friends and family joined in to help out the organization.

The Clackamas Dogs Foundation is collecting donations on behalf of Clackamas County Dog Services, which provides services throughout the county, including licensing; sick, injured and emergency dog rescue; obedience training classes; pet first aid classes; and spay and neuter services.

"We are the only dog shelter in Clackamas County, and many citizens don't know we exist," said Maura White, who helps run the foundation.

"We are the place to come to adopt a dog, find your lost dog or get advice for working with the dog you have. Participating in outreach events helps us get the word out and reach the community we serve."

At the event, ambassador dogs Haui and Karbon helped introduce visitors to the foundation. Of course the people holding their leashes were helpful as well. Visitors at the event got the chance to learn about dog safety and review the album of dogs up for adoption.

H&R Block employees helped run a prize wheel, cakewalk and coloring contest for visitors. Donations also were accepted.

“We not only work in this community, but we live and shop here as well,” said Kerri Ragsdale, H&R Block office manager. “H&R Block is proud to be able to help the Clackamas Dogs Foundation by hosting this event.”
