Sandy High recognizes academic achievement

Sandy High School encourages parents and the public to come help them recognize students for their successes in academics at its Evening of Excellence.

The evening is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, May 8, at the Sandy High auditorium, 37400 Bell St.

Each year, teachers from each department are asked to recognize one outstanding student from each grade. This year, about 135 students are being honored for their achievement.

Welches raises money with ABC dinner

Welches School invites community members to support the students with its Adults Benefiting Children, or ABC, Auction and Dinner.

The school will hold its annual silent and oral auction Saturday, May 17, at Mt. Hood RV Village, 65000 Highway 26 in Welches. Dinner, music and the silent auction will be from 5:30-7 p.m. Dinner tickets are available for $10 for adults and $5 for kids. Food will be provided by Burro Loco.

Throughout the night, Rebel String will provide musical entertainment.

Following dinner and music, the oral auction will begin at 7 p.m. Many items will be available, including cabin rentals, jewelry, artwork, class projects, nursery plants and much more. All of the funds raised go directly to Welches students, with an emphasis on purchasing technology.
