Alice Ann Speck

Aug. 16, 1949-March 21, 2012

Alice Ann Speck, a resident of Boring, died Wednesday, March 21. She was 62.

A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 7, at Dodge Park, 10991 S.E. Lusted Road, Sandy.

Alice was born Aug. 16, 1949, in Portland to John and Helen (Montgomery) Barker. She attended Gresham High School.

Alice was known for her love of the outdoors and for her devotion to her family.

On April 15, 1989, she married Richard Speck. He preceded her in death.

Survivors include her children, Sue Botel, Alton Berg III and Timothy Berg, all of Boring; sisters, Margaret Robbins of Kelso, Wash., Eva Maunus of Powers, Mich., Erma Graham of Portland and Helen Sloan of Jacksonville, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Richard R. Zogg

May 14, 1961-March 25, 2012

Former Sandy resident Richard R. Zogg, 50, died Sunday, March 25.

A memorial service will be held at noon Saturday, April 28, at Victory Outreach Church, 16022 S.E. Stark St.

Rick was born May 14, 1961, on Long Island, N.Y., to Dick and Judy Barrett. He grew up in Sandy and was on the Sandy High School wrestling team.

Rick worked for The Salvation Army in Gresham. He was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman and an experienced roofer. He also enjoyed reading the Bible, attending church, and reading and writing poetry.

Survivors include his father and stepmother, Dick and Jeannette Barrett of Gresham; brothers, Mike Zogg of Rainier and Patrick Zogg of La Pine; and sister, Cindy Coburn of Portland.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Victory Outreach Church, 16022 S.E. Stark St., Portland, 97233; or to The Salvation Army, 8495 S.E. Monterey Ave., Happy Valley, 97086.

Denise Mary Skipper

May 26, 1948-March 28,2012

Former Sandy resident Denise Mary Skipper died Wednesday, March 28, at her home in Madras after a battle with cancer. She was 63.

A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 7, at Bel-Air Colonial Funeral Home, 726 N.E. 10th St., Madras.

Denise was born May 26, 1948, in Long Beach, Calif., to Louis and Mary Isenburg. The family moved to Sandy in 1957, and Denise graduated from Sandy High School in 1966.

On June 24, 1967, she married Jack Skipper.

Denise worked for U.S. Bank in Gresham.

Denise was an avid horsewoman and won numerous awards. She was a board member, vice president and secretary with the Central Oregon Cutting Horse Association and a member of the National Cutting Horse Association. She loved trail riding with her girlfriends and doing other outdoor sports. She was known as an excellent cook and for her love of gardening.

Survivors include her husband; sister, Bernie Peery of Covina, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Madras Hospice.

Bel-Air Colonial Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
