County experiences 2013 scam again

The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office has received reports of a phone scam that circulated in the area last year.

A sheriff’s community service officer reported that citizens are being contacted by someone identifying himself as a Sheriff’s Office employee.

The caller tells citizens they have a warrant for their arrest after missing jury duty, then asks them to purchase a prepaid debit card and report back to him with the card number.

If a scammer calls you saying you’re wanted for missing jury duty and asking to extract a fine or other financial penalty, report the call by contacting the Sheriff’s Office at the non-emergency number, 503-665-8211.
