Quilt Show a success for winners and museum

June's Quilt Show brought in 972 quilting enthusiasts

At the Sandy Quilt Show, a fundraiser for the Sandy Historical Museum the weekend of June 26, 27 and 28, two women went away as winners.

Sandy’s Vicki Biermann won Best of Show for 2014 with her extra large mixed technique family memories quilt.

Kathi Miller, of Fairview, won the 2014 grand door prize, going home with a gift basket stuffed with over $800 in quilting items and gift certificates donated by local businesses.

Over the weekend, 972 people visited the quilt show at the old Sandy High School. Although that number was down from last year, Shirley Crow, chairwoman of the event, said that the quilting and fiber arts club was still thrilled to have so many in attendance.

The two women were not the only ones to get something out of the event. As a fundraiser for the Sandy Historical Museum, the quilt show brought in quite a bit of money.

So far, the quilt show has raised over $7,000 for the museum.

The 2014 Raffle Quilt will also be displayed at the Sandy Mountain Festival, July 12 and 13, and at the Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, July 27. Raffle tickets will continue being sold at the two events so Crow hopes to bring in well over $7,000 for the museum.
