Portland Actors Ensemble performed the play Sunday

The Sandy Summer Sounds series opened on the night of Sunday, July 6, with Shakespeare in the Park.

For the fifth year, Portland Actors Ensemble performed a Shakespeare play in the heart of Meinig Memorial Park. This year, the play of choice was “Antony and Cleopatra.”

Sandy Summer Sounds coordinator Katie Murphy said that, as usual, the play drew a full house, or rather park, and the acting was wonderful.

“Even though it was three hours long and the benches are pretty hard, people got absorbed in the play and seemed to really enjoy it,” she said. by: CONTRIBUTED PHOTO - Andrea White played Cleopatra.

Portland Actors Ensemble has been bringing Shakespeare to Portland area parks for 45 consecutive years.

Murphy said she saw one of its plays in Portland and thought it would be a good idea to invite the company to Sandy.
