On the Rocks, which is hailed as the first official collegiate a cappella group in Oregon, began in 1999 when the founders, Leonardo DaSilva and Peter Hollens, met in writing class at UO.

For the Aug. 27 performance, On the Rocks alum and Sandy resident Marcus Hathcock will sing with the group.

The group’s repertoire includes contemporary pop, doo-wop classics, hip-hop, R&B, country and holiday songs as well as original arrangements.

On The Rocks has released five albums: The self-titled “OTR,” in 2002, “Backgammon Sessions,” in 2003, “Full Coverage,” in 2005, “The Green Room,” in 2008, and “A Fifth,” in 2010. “A Fifth,” the group’s latest release, features well-known pop and radio songs.

The current group of 12 can be heard performing on the UO campus every Friday night during the school year. On the Rocks also has toured the nation, had videos go viral on youtube and was featured on the NBC reality competition show “The Sing Off.”Photo Credit: CONTRIBUTED PHOTO - The UO a capella group will finish out the Sandy Summer Sounds series on Wednesday, Aug. 27.
