On Sunday, Jan. 26, Archbishop Alexander K. Sample and the Archdiocesan Catholic Committee on Scouting will present Catholic scouting emblems to 78 young men and women from 31 parishes and missions across western Oregon and Clark County, Wash.

Dylan and Peter Malone of Sandy, who attend St. Therese Parish, earned religious emblem awards this year.

Dylan will be presented the “Light of Christ” emblem, given to Tiger and Wolf Cubs through the second grade, and the “Parvuli Dai” award, given to Cub Scouts who have completed the second grade.

Peter also will receive the “Parvuli Dai” award.

Medical marijuana and cannabis club opens in Boring

Mt. Hood Wellness Center has opened its new location in Boring, secondary to its Portland office, 14325 S.E. Stark St.

The Boring location, 31277 Highway 26, next to Nuts on Sports Pizza, opened in November 2013.

Mt. Hood Wellness Center is a members only, nonprofit Oregon medical marijuana cannabis club. It is open to those with valid OMMP card and identification.

According to its website, the center’s mission is “to provide a safe, clean, and comfortable atmosphere for patients, growers and caretakers to come together.”
