Northwest native brings his band to Sandy on Sunday

Since his debut performances in Seattle less than 10 years ago, Ian McFeron has captivated the hearts of thousands of listeners.

His lyrical prose, creating another tradition in American roots music, is what inspires his fans to keep coming back for more.

McFeron will bring his talents, along with several talented friends, to an outdoor venue in Sandy, capping an outstanding 2012 season of Summer Sounds.

His band’s performance is scheduled to continue from 6:30-8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 12, at the Theater in the Woods in Meinig Park.

McFeron plans to form a band for the Meinig Park venue with his longtime friends Norman Baker and Mark Bateman on bass and drums as well as Alisa Milner, who is a Texas-style fiddler, cellist and harmony vocalist.

McFeron has been involved in a full-time recording and touring career, but he continues to operate as a fully independent artist. On his own record label, he quickly released five CDs in a variety of musical traditions such as blues, folk, pop, gospel, alternative country and jazz. Currently, McFeron is on tour to support his sixth album “Summer Nights,” recorded in Nashville.

McFeron performs about 200 shows a year, spread throughout the United States and Europe, inspiring listeners with his beautifully crafted songs and down-to-earth narratives.

The Sandy concert is free and family friendly. Meinig Park is at 17670 Meinig Ave. The Theater in the Woods is the smaller of the two stages in the southeast area of the park, near the west end of McCormick Drive and the park’s gazebo. Bench seating is provided; bring a blanket or a stadium chair for comfort.
