Sandy residents should consider themselves special. The city and all of its residents will have the privilege of hearing a Robbie Laws Band concert — right here in our own back yard.

Laws is bringing his group and his exceptional talents to Meinig Park on Wednesday, Aug. 15.

Ask anyone who has been to one of Laws’ concerts, and they will tell you not to miss this evening of stellar music.

Laws is so versatile that he can, with equal dexterity, present a variety of styles from the 1940s such as jump and swing as well as Piedmont, Delta and Chicago blues along with traditional country blues, jazz and rock.

Laws’ ability to recreate all of those regional styles is made possible because of the dexterity with which he handles a guitar, but no one doubts that his soulful voice, personality and stage presence add to the total package — an evening to remember every time he is on stage.

So many reviews are saying that Laws is one of the most decorated and in-demand blues guitarists in the Pacific Northwest.

That fact should tell local residents they need to come early Wednesday evening to get a good seat (you’ll have to bring it) or a blanket.

The 90-minute show is free and family friendly, and begins at 6:30 p.m. Food is available from Busy Bee Catering beginning at 6 p.m.

Meinig Park is behind City Hall at 17670 Meinig Ave. The Dale Nichols Main Stage is the large stage right behind (south of) Sandy City Hall.
