Charles Halton Jones

Former Sandy resident Charles Halton Jones died Friday, Feb. 8, in Rockport, Texas. He was 63.

Charles was born Dec. 29, 1949, in Kalamazoo, Mich., to Clyde and Opal Jones. He graduated from Marysville High School and owned CHJ Construction with his father.

On Sept. 21, 1990, Charles married Kathleen Flory Jones in Boring. He enjoyed woodworking, drawing, raising birds with his wife and painting. Charles also owned a satellite video store.

He was preceded in death by his wife and his brother, James Jones. Charles is survived by his daughter, Misty Sutton-Wilcox; sons, Keith Sutton and Daniel Jones; brothers, Wayne Jones and Major Jones; and sisters, Dorothy Hayden and Julie Baggs.

Orlena Phyllis Smith

Dec. 19, 1918-Feb. 5, 2013

Sandy resident Orlena Smith died peacefully Tuesday, Feb. 5. She was 94.

No services are scheduled at this time.

Orlena was born Dec. 19, 1918, in Randolph, Kan., to Newton and Pearl McCosh. After graduating from Randolph High School, Orlena married Roy Ivan Smith in 1938.

Following Roy’s service in the Navy, the couple moved to Wichita, Kan., and made it their home for 20 years. They lived in San Antonio, Texas, before moving to Gresham in 2000.

Orlena was very quick-witted and enjoyed extensive worldwide travel with her husband.

Orlena was preceded in death by her husband in 2005. She is survived by her daughter, Judith Morgan of Sandy, and granddaughter, Tonya Morgan of Houston.

Randy Scot Huserik

Sept. 6, 1951-Feb. 3, 2013

Cherryville resident Randy Scot Huserik died Sunday, Feb. 3. He was 61.

No services are scheduled at this time.

Randy was born Sept. 6, 1951, in Portland to Rudy and June Huserik. He attended Sandy High School and worked as a construction supervisor and superintendent until his retirement in 2012.

He married Suzanne Croston on Sept. 7, 1975, in Oregon. He enjoyed fishing, boating, camping and spending time with his Labrador retrievers.

Crown Memorial is handling arrangements.

Marjorie Burgess

May 11, 1924-Feb. 11, 2013

Longtime mountain resident Marjorie Burgess died Monday, Feb. 11. She was 88.

A private family memorial service will be held at Willamette National Cemetery at a later date for Marjorie and her husband, Leo Burgess, who died Saturday, Feb. 2. Sandy Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
