Ruth Alice Forsgren Bram

Feb. 3, 1922-May 5, 2013

Longtime Pleasant Valley and Sandy resident Ruth Alice Forsgren Bram died Sunday, May 5. She was 91.

A private memorial service for family and friends will be held at Ruth’s home at a later date.

Ruth was born Feb. 3, 1922, in Sweden to Anna Forsgren. Her biological father died before Ruth was born, and she was adopted by her mother’s second husband, John Forsgren.

Ruth grew up in Pleasant Valley on a farm and attended Gresham High School and Oregon State University. She married Calvin Bram in 1941 and continued to live in Pleasant Valley. Ruth was a medical secretary and worked for the same doctor for more than 30 years until they both retired.

Ruth moved to Sandy in 2009 to be closer to family and live with her granddaughter. She loved nature, reading, going to the Sandy Senior Center and her faithful companion, Max the pug.

Her family and friends will remember her as a kind, affectionate and caring person.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband. She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Bridge; granddaughter, Charr Bridge; and son-in-law, Duane Bridge.

Irene Ellen Brinkman

March 15, 1921-May 12, 2013

Sandy area resident Irene Brinkman died Sunday, May 12. She was 92.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 25, at Sandy Funeral Home. A private burial will be at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.

Irene Ellen Knapp was born March 15, 1921, in Stanfield to Guy and Ida Knapp.

On July 27, 1940, Irene married Charles Brinkman in Lewiston, Idaho. Irene worked as a bookkeeper for a construction company where Charles worked.

After retiring, they moved to Aurora. Irene remained in Aurora until 2008, when she moved to the Sandy area to be near her family.

Irene was a country music fan and collected CDs. She enjoyed sewing, sending greeting cards, collecting photos of family and friends, rock hounding and making jewelry.

She was preceded in death by her husband. Survivors include her daughters, Charlene Netherland and Carla Christensen; son, Garry Brinkman; sister, Verla Frost; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Sandy Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
