James “Jim” William Chilton

Oct. 16, 1928-July 20, 2013

Former Sandy resident James “Jim” William Chilton died Saturday, July 20, in Seattle. He was 84.

A celebration of life will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9, at the Landmark on the Sound, 23660 Marine View Drive, Des Moines, Wash.

Jim was born Oct. 16, 1928, in Haiti, Mo., to Guy and Stella Chilton. He moved to Sandy with his family at age 10.

After graduating from Sandy High School, Jim joined the U.S. Air Force. He met the love of his life, Catherine van de Graaff, while stationed in Europe.

The couple moved to the Northwest together and married in 1953.

Jim was preceded in death by brother W.R. (Wink) Chilton.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years; three children, Susan Jannie Stowell, Bob Chilton and Paul Chilton; eight grandchildren; and sisters, JoAnne Rohweder and Nora Shaffer.

Bernard “Bernie” A. Rueschenberg

June 11, 1929-July 24, 2013

Boring resident Bernard Rueschenberg died at his home Wednesday, July 24. He was 84.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Tuesday, July 30, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Sandy.

Bernie was born June 11, 1929, in Frankford, S.D. He was raised and educated in Watertown, S.D.

Bernie served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 until 1955. On Nov. 2, 1965, he married Ramona Asmussen in Watertown. The family moved to Oregon in 1969, making Boring their permanent home.

Bernie worked in the automotive parts industry his entire career, retiring in the early 1990s. He enjoyed working in his yard, “puttering” around his property and watching NASCAR. Bernie was a longtime member of St. Michael Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife; children, Renee, Robin, Alan, John and Jered; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; twin sister, Bernadine; and brother, LaVerne.

Sandy Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Sean Michael Sedgwick

Sean Michael Sedgwick

Sean was born April 20, 1989 in Virginia Beach, Virginia to Scott and Beth Sedgwick. His family included his Brother Joshua Sedgwick, Step Mother Tamara Sedgwick and Step Sisters Rachael Wheeler Wright and Rebecca Wheeler.

Sean lived in Southern California until July of 2002 when he moved to Sandy, Oregon. He attended Cedar Ridge Middle School and graduated from Sandy High School in 2007. Sean worked at the Sandy Mc Donald’s, Sparky’s Pizza, Precision Castparts and for the last 3 years at Harry’s Fresh Foods as a lead cook.

Sean enjoyed working on cars, going to clubs and concerts, playing video games, watching movies and hanging out with his friends.

Sean passed unexpectedly at home on July 20, 2013, due to an emergency medical condition complicated by Type 1 Diabetes. He was 24 years old.

Sean is survived by his Father Scott Sedgwick, Step Mother Tamara Sedgwick, Brother Joshua Sedgwick, Step Sisters, Rachael Wheeler Wright and Rebecca Wheeler. Grandfather Wayne Sedgwick Sr. Uncle Wayne Sedgwick, Leslie Cotton and Cousins Zack and Ryan Sedgwick.

Memorial Service will be held at Sunnyside Little Chapel of the Chimes
