Sandy High graduate Dalton Meade reached the 32-person match-play bracket at the Oregon Amateur golf tournament in Eugene last week, claiming the last spot with a 176 score during the two-round stroke play qualifying. She edged Katy Wright of Camas by a single stroke.
She fell 6-and-5 to top-seeded Caroline Inglis of Eugene in the first round of the match-play competition. Inglis went 4-up through six holes with Meade scoring a par on the 450-yard, 8th to claim her only hole of the match.
Kendall Prince of Corvallis, the No. 3 seed, won the tournament title.
? Centennial High graduate Nick Chianello, an Oregon State graduate, defended his amateur title on the mens side with a series of 1-up wins before toppling Thomas Lim 4-and-3 in the finale.
FootTraffic hosts youth track meets
FootTraffic is hosting a series of youth track meets at 6 p.m. Tuesdays from July 2 and July 9, at Franklin High School. Events offered range from the 60-meter dash to kids 10-and-under to the predict mile, which is open to all ages. Field events include the shot put, softball throw, long jump and high jump. The meet concludes with a 400-meter relay.
Registration begins at 5:30 p.m. with an entry fee of $3 per child $6 maximum per family.
