The Freedom Marathon and half-marathon will be held Saturday, July 6, along the Springwater Trail. The headquarters for the race is Main City Park with the marathon set for a 7 a.m. start and the half-marathon going out at 7:30 a.m. Entry fee for the marathon is $55 with a $50 fee for the half-marathon. Registration and packet pickup will be available at 6 a.m. on raceday.
The full marathon course takes runners on the Springwater Trail from Main City Park west to near Lents Park (near Interstate-205) before returning to Gresham for the finish line.

Clarke wins NW Cup bike race
Nikolas Clarke won last weekends Northwest Cup mountain bike race at SkiBowl, completing the course in 3:58.98 to edge Curtis Hoffman by less than half-a-second. Britney White won the womens division in 4:54.90.
The Cup series returns to SkiBowl for the fifth stop of the seven-event tour July 12-14.
FootTraffic hosts youth track meets
FootTraffic is hosting a series of youth track meets at 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, at Franklin High School before moving to Lake Oswego High on Wednesday nights through the rest first week of August. Events offered range from the 60-meter dash to kids 10-and-under to the predict mile, which is open to all ages. Field events include the shot put, softball throw, long jump and high jump. The meet concludes with a 400-meter relay.
Registration begins at 5:30 p.m. with an entry fee of $3 per child $6 maximum per family.
Winterhawks schedule released
The reigning Western Hockey League champion Portland Winterhawks open the 2013-14 season at home Friday, Sept. 20, against Prince George and will play four of their first five games at home.
Portland sees Edmonton in a rematch of the WHL finals on the road on Dec. 6 the only regular-season clash between the teams. The Winterhawks first meet Western Conference rival Kamloops at home on Oct. 12.
