Sandy starts start before falling to David Douglas
The Sandy High boys basketball team held its own through the first half against 6A power David Douglas before losing touch in the third quarter, as the Scots pulled away for the 76-51 summer league win.
David Douglas sagged into a zone defense to start the second quarter, and Robbie Black made them pay by sinking a 3-pointer out of the corner. Wyatt Fisher rattled a long ball home from the top of the arc, and Black hit his third trey of the half to pull the Pioneers within six points at the intermission.
The Scots broke the game open in a flash in the third quarter, putting eight points on the scoreboard in less than a minute during one stretch.
Markus Presley swished a 3-pointer from the left side to put the Scots up 23 points as time ticked down in the quarter.
