There are an awful lot of reasons why Utah should win Thursday night against Oregon State.
The Utes are 5-0, ranked 15th in the country and playing at home, where they are 14-5 over the past four seasons. They won 25-23 at Michigan 25-23 in the season opener.
Oregon State could suffer an emotional letdown after last Thursday’s stunning upset of No. 1-ranked Southern Cal. OSU is 0-2 on the road this season.
The Beavers have a couple of things going for them. Momentum, for one. And Utah is coming off a short week, albeit with a victory over Division I-AA Weber State that was easier than the final 37-21 count indicates.
A win would be a huge accomplishment for Oregon State – not as big as versus SC, but not too far behind it. It could set the Beavers up for a special season.
Utah has a bit too much in its arsenal, though. It will be a 2-3 start for the Beavers for the third straight season.

I agree with Kerry Eggers' Analysis. OSU has typically started slow in the Riley/Erickson/Riley era, despite consistently fielding good teams. Utah is made of very stern stuff, and is playing at home. Beavs will make a good account of themselves (were they really that intimidated by Penn State?), and seem to have discovered that they are capable of running straight ahead instead of getting too cute on the edges all the time. Those playmakers are more effective when they're a surprise.

Sure, Utah is 5-0, but they've beaten no one (aside from a so-so Michigan team). OSU could be 5-0 with that schedule. Even the ducks could be...oh, wait; their schedule is even softer than Utah's up to this point.
Thank you for referring to Weber State as 1AA, rather than the convoluted "FCS-Football Championship Subdivision, formerly known as 1AA." Pure silliness.
