ADVERTISEMENTS
In its first five games, Oregon State has faced three opponents that are now ranked among the nation’s top 13 teams.
The worm turns this week when the Beavers, 24th nationally in the Sagarin power ratings, play host to Washington State, which clocks in at No. 137 – behind 27 teams in the Division I-AA ranks.
Oregon State seems to be gathering momentum with improved play the past three weeks against Hawaii, Southern Cal and Utah. The biggest danger against the Cougars is if the Beavers aren’t playing at the necessary emotional pitch.
OSU’s players have said the right things this week, insisting they are taking the Cougs seriously. The proof will come in the first half Saturday.
If Oregon State plays a solid game, if it avoids turnovers and gets a decent performance from kicker Justin Kahut and punter Johnny Hekker, this one should be a blowout.
THE PICK: Oregon State 38, Washington State 7

Re: KERRY SAYS: OSU-WSU should be a blowout, but first half will tell
I think the Cougs are due to give somebody a run for their money. I don't think they can beat OSU at Reser unless the team had no focus this week, but I do have tremendous respect for Paul Wulff and were he will take WSU.
My prediction is 31-17, OSU.
