ADVERTISEMENTS
Oregon State vs. California seems a mirror-image game. Check out the Pac-10 statistics. The teams run arm and arm up and down the line in nearly every category. Both teams have two solid quarterbacks, along with one of the conference’s top running backs and a stout defense.
Things are a little more unsettled at Cal, though, with the QB situation. Neither Nate Longshore or Kevin Riley got much done against Southern Cal last Saturday, and neither is at full strength physically. OSU’s Lyle Moevao isn’t, either, but I expect the junior QB to be ready to go Saturday. If that’s the case, the Beavers have an edge there.
Despite recent history – Cal has run it up on Oregon State in its last two visits to Reser Stadium – homefield is the Beavers’ other advantage Saturday. OSU has won seven in a row at home; when the smoke clears Saturday afternoon, the string will reach eight.
THE PICK: Oregon State 24, California 20
