At the base of Bull Mountain in Tigard, a farmers market blooms in May and is open, rain or shine.
About 2,000 attendees come every weekend to enjoy the fun family atmosphere, fresh food and produce.
The Bull Mountain Farmers Market, located at 14389 S.W. Pacific Highway, is open every Saturday and Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The 20 or so vendors include Happy Gardens; Martinez Family Farms; Parson Farms; Honey Boys Local Raw Honey; Alex Farms; Steele Plants; La Provence fresh-baked bread and pastries; and The Olive Branch's olives and olive oil.
The market offers food, snacks, face painting, children's activities and food demonstrations. Two adorable miniature ponies bring the charm of a farm to the event.
The market opened in 2012, a cooperative creation of several longtime citizens and vendors from Tigard and the surrounding area dedicated to improving their community.
Every week during the season, there's a fresh mix of new produce and plants. Flowers, including hanging baskets, have been plentiful and popular in recent weeks. Asparagus and apples have been in bountiful supply. The wet winter and spring delayed some crops a bit, but by the first of June, there will be a broad selection.
Our focus is to create a positive environment that connects local vendors and community organizations to Tigard citizens, while providing the best in locally grown food, crafts and services at a convenient location.
