The 10th annual Falls Prevention Awareness Day, sponsored by the National Council on Aging, is set for Sept. 24 - the first day of fall.
At King City Senior Village, preventing falls is a priority every day of the year.
We know that falls are the leading cause of fatal and non-fatal injuries for older Americans, threatening older adults' safety and independence.
But we also know that falling is NOT an inevitable result of aging!
Through practical lifestyle adjustments and physical activity, the number of falls among seniors can be substantially reduced.
At King City Senior Village, we offer daily balance-building activities including chair exercises, Tai Chi and Zumba.
When a new resident moves into one of our independent-living duplexes or apartments, we're glad to offer fall-prevention tips in the new space.
A few things to consider:
In the event a person falls, err on the side of caution and call 911.
