Missing Tigard man found safe

John Knorr, 51, of TigardAuthorities have located a medically fragile Tigard man who disappeared from Providence St. Vincent Medical Center during a trip to the emergency room on Christmas night.

John Knorr, 51, disappeared Christmas night, after he was taken to Providence St. Vincent Medical Center after his mother realized her son was unable to speak.

Knorr suffered a stroke three weeks ago and spent days in the hospital, Biren said. She believed her son's health had been recovering until Christmas night.

“The signs were there, but with Christmas, it never donned on me,” Biren told The Times on Wednesday before her son returned home.

Biren took her son to Providence St. Vincent Medical Center at about 7:45 p.m., Tuesday. He was walking behind her from the parking garage to the emergency room, when he disappeared.

“He was right behind me,” Biren said.

Hospital security and Washington County sheriff’s deputies searched the area, but were unable to find him.

It is unclear where

Biren said she was afraid her son had suffered another stroke and reached out to local media to find her son.

While reporters were at Biren's home interviewing her Wednesday afternoon her son arrived home.

On Wednesday, Washington County Sheriffs were unable to confirm the details of Knorr's arrival, but according to KPTV, Knorr reportedly walked for miles from the hospital to his mother’s old address on Wednesday. Confused, he was able to use hand signals to talk to a neighbor, who recognized the man and drove him to his mother’s current home near King City.

It is still unclear where Knorr was for much of the night and into Wednesday morning.

Knorr, still unable to speak when he arrived at Biren's house, was taken to a local hospital.
