Tigard Police recruiting new cadets

Young men and women between the ages of 16 and 20 who are interested in exploring a career in law enforcement are invited to enroll in the Tigard Police Department’s Cadet Program.

The program introduces participants to police work through crime prevention activities, police ride-alongs, participation in community outreach and monthly training sessions. Participants do not have to be residents of Tigard.

Cadets must not have any felony or misdemeanor convictions on record. Candidates must maintain a 2.5 grade point average if still in school and demonstrate good judgment and an interest in law enforcement.

Eligible cadets can pick up an application at Tigard City Hall, 13125 S.W. Hall Blvd., or apply online at tigard-or.gov.

The application deadline is Friday. Contact Officer Steve Gaytan with questions at 503-718-2670.
