Foundation for Tigard Tualatin Schools gets boost from local coupon group

The Foundation for Tigard Tualatin Schools has partnered with a local shop to raise money for schools.

From Friday, Jan. 25, to Wednesday, Jan. 30, customers can purchase a deal on Sharing Spree for $20 worth of gourmet, flavored olive oil, extra virgin olive oil, balsamic vinegar, tapenade and mustard from Lucero Olive Oil in Bridgeport Village for $10.

Ten percent of Sharing Spree’s proceeds will be donated to The Foundation for Tigard Tualatin Schools, which raises money for the 15 schools in the Tigard-Tualatin School District.

"With school budgets getting cut every year, FTTS rallies community members and businesses to fund programs, technology, books and supplies that make a difference for local children," said Megan Lawler, a spokeswoman for Sharing Spree, the daily deals website donates a portion of every consumer purchase to support community organizations. "In addition, (the foundation) grants money to teachers to pay for innovative programs, supports a health center to keep kids healthy, and awards scholarships to the best and brightest students."

Lucero Olive Oil's store at Bridgeport Village is the California company's only retail store.

"The Tigard community has already been so supportive of our business, and we want to show that same support to the local schools,” said Eric Mann, manager at Lucero Olive Oil. “Sharing Spree offers a great platform for helping nonprofits and schools boost donations, and we’re excited to form a long-lasting partnership with the company.”

Registration at Sharing Spree is free. Consumers can sign up online to receive a daily email featuring deals around the Portland area.

Between 10 and 15 percent of all sales go to local organizations.
