Sherwood High School Principal Carlos Sequeira has submitted his resignation effective June 30.

According to Sherwood School District Superintendent Heather Cordie, Sequeira is leaving for “personal reasons.” Staff was told of his departure Tuesday and students were informed Wednesday, she said.

In a letter to parents, Sequeira said his time at SHS was “enjoyable, productive and professionally satisfying.”

“I have relished each day of my time in the Sherwood School District,” he wrote. “I shall always cherish my time in Sherwood – the great memories and the wonderful students, staff and families.”

Sequeira has been principal at Sherwood High School since July 2011, having been selected from a field of 20 applicants. Prior to his selection, he served as an assistant principal at Wilsonville High School.

Sequeira replaced Michelle DeBoard who was named the district’s human resources director at the time.
