TVF&R battling Tigard fire
Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue crews have responded to a residentnail fire in the 10000 block of Southwest Tigard Street.
Firefighters responded to the scene shortly before 1 p.m., Monday, and treated two people who suffered injuries.
Details of the fire, and the extent of the injuries, were not immediately available.
Stan Harris, who has lived in the home for about a year, said that he ran from the house into the street and screamed for someone to call 911 after discovering smoke inside the home.
Harris said he then ran back inside the house to help one medically fragile resident get out of the house, and had to jump through a window in order to escape the blaze.
"Everything happened really fast," said neighbor Gladys Concreras. The fire caught the house so fast."
Fire investigators have yet to release a cause for the fire, but Harris told The Times that the house had no power and many of the residents were using candles for light.
"I think the fire probably started from those candles," he said.
