With the effects of the Japanese tsunami of 2011 still having reprecations along the Oregon coast, a group of Tigard High School students are raising money to clean things up.

The school's annual Japan Night is set for Friday, April 5 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Tigard High School, 9000 S.W. Durham Road.

Now in its twelfth year, the yearly event provides a hands-on experience of modern and traditional Japanese culture with booths, a traditional tea ceremony calligraphy writing and a sampling of Japanese foods.

Hosted by the school's Japanese National Honor Society, all money raised at the event will be donated to SOLVE to help support the clean-up of all the tsunami debris that has washed up on Oregon beaches.
