Car crashes into King City apartment building

King City Police are investigating a traffic crash that sent a driver careening off the road and into a home, Friday morning.

According to Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue, a car was traveling on Southwest Imperial Avenue in King City at about 7:48 a.m., Friday, when the driver accidently pressed the accelerator instead of the brake, sending the vehicle off the road and into the side of an apartment building. The crash broke glass, broke water pipes and damaged the exterior of the building, but no one appears to have been hurt in the crash, investigators said.

Firefighters were able to shut off water to the building and evacuated nearby apartments while crews assessed the damage.

"Luckily in this incident no one was hurt,” said TVF&R Captain Troy Spisla. “The impact could have been devastating had someone been in the bedroom where the car struck."

The building will be evaluated for structural damage.
