Washington County Sheriffs Department deputies are trying to determine how a car managed to end up lodged in tree branches about 10 feet off the ground at Highway 99W and Southwest Middleton Road near Sherwood Sunday morning.
According to Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue, crews discovered the vehicle at about 7:33 a.m., after a 9-1-1 call reporting the incident.
Crews used thermal imagers to scan the vehicle and the surrounding area around the tree to confirm that the vehicle was empty and that no one had been ejected during the crash. They found nothing and a Portland General Electric lineman in a boom truck further validated that the truck was empty.
KOIN News Channel 6 reported later Sunday that a St. Paul woman who returned to the scene of the accident was cited for hit-and-run and criminal mischief, according to a Washington County Sheriffs Department spokesman.
