Thieves get away with $150,000 in jewelry

Investigators see possible connection to Hillsboro burglary

An early morning burglary cost a local jewelry store $150,000 in merchandise, and is possibly part of a larger crime spree in the county, according to the Tualatin Police Department.

The suspects used an external service area to access Jared Jewelers, 7162 S.W. Hazelfern Road, shortly before 2 a.m. on Monday. Tualatin officers arrived at the scene at 1:50 a.m., after the business's security system indicated a break-in. They were aided by a Beaverton Police K-9 team, but a dog track failed to locate any suspects.

Investigators say the burglary may be connected to a similar incident at the Macy's store in Hillsboro, which occured at 4:10 a.m. Monday morning. Hillsboro Police officers found a smashed window, but have not yet confirmed whether a theft occured. K-9 officers were unable to track suspects near the Tanasbourne store.

Tualatin police ask that anyone with information about these incidents call the tip line at 503-691-0285.
