Car stop leads to discovery of $25,000 of marijuana
Oregon State Police have arrested a man who was reportedly driving on Highway 217 with several thousand dollars worth of marijuana in his vehicle.
Joshua King, 38, formerly of Welches, was arrested in the early hours of Wednesday morning on Highway 217 and charged with unlawful possession and delivery of marijuana.
According to police, King was driving a rented 2012 Mazda four-door sedan on Interstate 5 on Jan. 4, at about 12:41 a.m. when troopers say they noticed a traffic violation and pulled him over on northbound 217.
Police say that the traffic stop led troopers to search King's car, where they found several bags of marijuana inside the trunk.
The drugs, which reportedly weighed more than 10 pounds, are valued at about $25,000, police said.
King was arrested without incident and lodged in the Clackamas County Jail.
King previously lived in Welches, but has no confirmed permanent address, police said.
Oregon State Police's drug enforcement section is continuing the investigation.
