Suspicious device forces Tualatin neighbors from their homes

Several Tualatin residents were forced from their apartments Tuesday evening after a suspicious device was found inside a neighboring dwelling.

Tualatin police said the device wasn’t explosive, but forced the evacuation of several apartments in the small complex and a nearby business. No one was injured in the incident.

Police were called during the evening of Sept. 24 to an apartment by a woman who said she found a suspicious device in a closet after returning to the dwelling. The woman told police that she and her husband were separated and she was worried when she saw the device.

The estranged husband was not in the apartment at the time.

Members of the Metro Explosives Disposal Unit checked the device and found that it was not dangerous.

No criminal charges were filed, according to Tualatin police.
