Law enforcement takes lead to safeguard rental properties

Landlords invited to special training Nov. 2

Tigard Police and the Westside Crime Prevention Coalition are hosting an eight-hour training session for local landlords.

The forum will focus on keeping illegal activity out of rental properties.

On Saturday, Nov. 2, local property owners, rental property managers and landlords will learn about reducing criminal activity while maintaining safe and attractive places to live.

Attendees will learn how to thoroughly screen applicants, assess rental agreements, develop effective ongoing management skills, work with tenants, mitigate the eviction process, create partnerships with law enforcement and more.

The forum runs from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Portland Community College’s Willow Creek campus, 241 S.W. Edgeway Drive, in Hillsboro.

The Westside Crime Prevention Coalition is made up of officers from across the county, including Tigard Police and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

Registration for the event is $60. The registration fee includes a comprehensive training manual, continental breakfast, and lunch.  For more information and to register, contact Jessica Chandler at 503-846-2579 or email This email address is being protected from spambots.
