No charges will be filed after an elderly woman drove through the lobby of the Tigard Post Office on Monday morning.
According to Tigard Police Sgt. Jerry Bartolomucci, a 74-year-old woman was attempting to park her car outside the Tigard Post Office at about 9:40 a.m., Feb. 24 when she became confused and pressed the gas petal instead of the brake.
The car sped over the sidewalk and crashed through the building's large glass storefront.
The Post Office, located at 12210 SW Main St., sustained considerable damage to its large front window and glass doors, but no one was injured in the crash, Bartolomucci said.
Bartolomucci said that the crash appeared to be an accident. Neither drugs nor alcohol appear to have been a factor.
"There was no indication of impairment," he said. "It was just one of those things. She meant to hit the brake and instead she hit the gas."
