Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue fire investigators say they aren't sure what started a fire that swept through a row of garage units on June 5.

Firefighters responded to a fire in Tigard on Thursday morning.

According to TVF&R, multiple 911 calls came in at about 8:15 a.m., June 5, reporting flames and heavy black smoke coming from a row of attached garages at Riverhood Heights Apartments, 12070 S.W. Fischer Road, in Tigard.

The fire had spread up the backside of one garage unit into a shared attic space, investigators said.

Crews had the fire under control within about 10 minutes, TVF&R said. Firefighters were able to force their way into five of the eight units to ensure that the fire didn’t spread further, though one vehicle sustained minor damage from heat exposure.

The damage was isolated to the garage units, which were not attached to apartment units.

No injuries were reported.

On Friday, TVF&R said that the cause of the fire was still undetermined, but said that the blaze caused about $10,500 in damage.
