SUBMITTED PHOTO: TVF&R - Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue officials say three cars were damaged and two destroyed after an afternoon fire in Tigard.Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue investigators have determined the cause of a Tigard car fire on Tuesday that sent one man to the hospital and burned five vehicles.

According to TVF&R the fire was accidental in nature. The victim told investigators that he was involved in the process of butane hash oil extraction when the fire occurred.

The Tigard Police Department's investigation of this incident is ongoing.

Firefighters responded to 74th Avenue and Pacific Highway at about 2:17 p.m., Tuesday, after receiving reports of a fire.

Upon arrival, crews found five vehicles ablaze that were parked near one another.

Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire. Three of the vehicles were damaged by the heat, and two were a complete loss, fire district officials said.

The victim was taken by ambulance to the burn center at Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland. The severity of his injuries are unknown, and his name was not released.
