Westside Christian High School
Westside Christian High School will be hosting an Open House on Tuesday, November 3rd at 7pm. Located at the intersection of Hwy 99 & 217, Westside is a private 9th - 12th grade high school serving students across the Portland metro area. Westsides Open House will give both parents and students the opportunity to tour their facilities, observe classroom teaching in action, and hear all about the schools academic, artistic, musical, and extra-curricular activity options.
Westside Christian High School opened its doors in 1981 at what is currently Riverdale High School. After purchasing and extensively renovating their current facility, Westside moved into its new campus in January 2014. Since then, they have completed construction of a new two court gymnasium facility that is already being extensively used by the local community. Westside competes as a 3A school in the West Valley League. Sports offered at Westside include cross country, soccer, girls volleyball, basketball, cheerleading, boys golf, track and field, and girls tennis. Many Westside students interested in other sports enjoy competing for their area high schools. Senior Hunter Gillis is starting on the Varsity Water Polo team for Sunset High School, junior Ruben Vila and freshmen Elijah Alexander play football for, respectively, Tigard and Tualatin, and Swaim brothers Max and Sam swim at Lakeridge High School. Lacrosse is a common pursuit of both boys and girls during the spring.
On average, over 90% of Westsides graduating seniors are college bound, and SAT scores from the school are consistently among the highest in the state. Students may select courses from an offering that includes 9 AP classes and 8 concurrent credit classes through the Jump Year Program. Many Westside students take advantage of the Jump Year Program that allows them to receive up to 31 semester units while still at Westside, meaning a full year of college credit can realistically be completed over the course of four years.
In addition to information about academics, athletics, performance programs and more, details regarding Westsides admission process and timeline will also be shared. All prospective students and parents must complete a written application and, once reviewed, qualified applicants will complete a parent / student on-campus interview.
