Whole Foods Market and Bloodworks Northwest are partnering on a series of blood drives in the Portland area this month, including two upcoming drives at Whole Foods locations in Tigard and Tualatin.
On Monday, March 6, a blood drive will be held outside the Whole Foods at Greenway Town Center, 12220 S.W. Scholls Ferry Road in Tigard. On March 20, the Whole Foods at Bridgeport Village, 7380 S.W. Bridgeport Road in Tualatin, will host a blood drive.
Times are available between noon and 6 p.m. both days for people to sign up and give blood. Time slots may be reserved on Bloodworks' website.
Donors will receive a voucher for a free pint of Three Twins organic ice cream.
Whole Foods is sponsoring nine blood drives at stores throughout the Portland area this month.
"As the Northwest's leading community blood center, we strive to keep our communities whole and healthy by providing blood for patients in local hospitals every day," said Clint Kendrick, Bloodworks' senior director of blood services, in a statement. "We're excited to partner with Whole Foods Market to encourage more people to donate blood, and to ensure that local hospitals are well-supplied."
Bloodworks, formerly the Puget Sound Blood Center, is a nonprofit blood center based in Seattle. It provides blood and stem cells to hospitals in Oregon, Washington and Alaska.
