Dana Haynes will talk about newest thriller Ice Cold Kill

Author Dana Haynes will speak and sign copies of his newest thriller, “Ice Cold Kill,” at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Powell’s at Cedar Hills Crossing, 3415 S.W. Cedar Hills Blvd.

Haynes spent 20 years in Oregon newspaper newsrooms, including stints at The Oregonian’s Washington County Bureau and the Lake Oswego Review and West Linn Tidings, sister publications of the Beaverton Valley Times. He lives in Portland and works for Portland Mayor Charlie Hales as communications director.

“Ice Cold Kill” is Haynes’ third thriller from Minotaur Books, a subdivision of St. Martin’s Press, following 2010’s “Crashers” and 2011’s “Breaking Point.” The first novel was named best mystery or thriller by a Northwest author, according to Friends of Mystery.

“Ice Cold Kill,” tells the story of Daria Gibron, a woman with a deadly past and an uncertain future, a former Israeli soldier and spy who can't resist the occasional freelance job — a habit that has left her with a trail of corpses, and a few still living, very dangerous, high-powered enemies who would stop at nothing to get revenge.
