Job and benefits fair set for veterans

40 businesses on the hunt for employees

Veterans and their families are invited to attend a free Veterans Job and Benefits Fair on Wednesday from 9 a.m. to noon at the Tuality Education Center, 334 S.E. Eighth Ave., in Hillsboro.

Forty Oregon businesses will be on hand to recruit prospective employees. Kurt Carlsen of WorkSource Oregon Employment Department explained why veterans are a good choice for employers. “Veterans are a diverse group of individuals, but all were trained to make quick decisions, be on time, pay attention to details, and work individually and as a team,” he said.

The Veterans Administration, along with 20 other governmental and community-based agencies, will provide services and information, as well as the opportunity to register with the VA for medical care and other benefits.

The fair is a joint effort of WorkSource Oregon Employment Department, Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce and Washington County Disability, Aging and Veteran Services.
