Safety seminar set for college youth

Sheriff's office offers Friday and Monday sessions in Bethany

Children spend their formative years relying on parents for their safety and security, but when they move away from home, they are responsible for their own safety.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office wants to help young men and women and their parents with the transition.

In its interactive and informative class, trainers from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office will discuss safety precautions and strategies for young people. The class will be geared toward young women, but interested young men and parents will not be turned away.

Topics of discussion will include:

·Awareness of surroundings

·Avoiding dangerous situations

·Self-defense strategies

·Date rape

·Drugs and alcohol

·Securing your property.

The classes will be held Friday from 1 to 3 p.m. and Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Bethany Village Community Room, 15220 N.W. Laidlaw Road.

Space is limited. Reserve your spot today by calling 503-846-2579.
