U.S. servicemen and servicewomen will receive the holiday gift of books via Operation Paperback, which is now underway at Beaverton’s Book Corner Used Bookstore.

The Book Corner, operated by the New Friends of the Beaverton Library, is participating for the third year in this program. Books may be purchased at the store now through Tuesday, Dec. 24. For each book purchased, the store itself will match the donation.

The store will also provide holiday greeting cards for participants to write a note of appreciation to the servicemen and women to include with the book.

Operation Paperback handles mailing the books to military personnel.

The Book Corner, at 12470 S.W. Fifth St., is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Wednesday evening until 7 p.m. Shoppers may also shop via Amazon at bookcornerbeaverton.org. Money raised by the nonprofit organization benefits Beaverton’s libraries for items needed but not included in current budgets.
