503 Uncorked moves into Old Town Sherwood

“The more I got to know wine and wines of the area, it just seemed like the thing to do,” said Wilson, owner of the new 503 Uncorked. “Last fall, I really thought of pursuing it.”

That’s when the former loan officer (and the owner of Amazing Maids, a business she sold in 2011 after 11 years), started applying for loans and looking for a location.

When she learned the retail space for SweetStory Bakery would become available after that business moved to The Lavender Tea House, she jumped at the opportunity to take over the space. She then set out on an expansive remodeling project led by owner Lorie Wolff, a decorative painter, and Kimberly and Nicholas Yannariello, her designer and contractor, respectively.

“It’s a 100-year-old building, so we wanted to highlight the age,” said Wilson, who has lived in Sherwood for 17 years. “So the décor when we’re done will have this rustic, industrial look.”

One of the draws of the new location is that it’s across the street from the future Sherwood Community Center, with 503 Uncorked expected to give theater-goers and others attending events a place to go before or after a performance.

“We’ll have inside seating for 25, and we’ll also do (sidewalk) seating,” said Wilson.

Plans are to offer 15 wines by the glass and four on tap. She will also offer wine by the bottle and in growlers — smaller and prettier versions of the popular beer growlers.

The wines available on tap will rotate, and a different winery will be represented every week. In addition, Wilson said she’ll keep a small amount of bottled beer and hard cider on hand.

Wilson said her focus will be to feature local wines as much as possible.

“It’s amazing how many people don’t know the wineries in Sherwood,” said Wilson. “My goal is to have all the Sherwood wines represented.”

Meanwhile, Wilson said 503 Uncorked plans on featuring live music on Friday and Saturday along with having a “bubbly bar” on Sunday, featuring fresh fruit and juices. A small food menu will be available, something she hopes to add to in the future.

So far, Wilson said she’s received extensive support for her new venture.

“I’m excited to receive the positive response I’ve received from the community and friends,” she said.

503 Uncorked is set to open in early June with a grand opening planned for June 21. Hours of operation will be Monday through Thursday, 3 to 9 p.m.; Saturday from noon to 11 p.m. or later; and Sunday from noon to 8 p.m.

The business is located at 16079 S.W. Railroad St. Call 503-849-0432 or visit for more information.
