Wyatt Houston throws eight TD passes in the 61-35 victory

COLTON — Another big win for the Horizon Christian High School football team, another huge game for senior quarterback Wyatt Houston.

The Hawks, with Houston turning in an eye-boggling statistical performance, rolled to a 61-35 win over Colton in a West Valley League game played Friday at Colton High.

With the win, Horizon Christian moved to 3-1 on the season while also improving to 2-0 in West Valley League play, putting the Hawks in a tie with Dayton for first place in the league standings.

Houston, in Friday’s win at Colton, completed 18 of 25 pass attempts for 432 yards and eight touchdowns. He also rushed for 116 yards on eight carries and threw a two-point conversion pass.

Through the first four games of the season, Houston has now completed 70 of 111 pass attempts for 1,307 yards and 21 touchdowns with just four interceptions. He’s also rushed for 393 yards and four more scores.

Houston, and his Horizon Christian teammates, didn’t waste much time in taking charge in Friday’s game at Colton.

In the first quarter of the contest, Houston and senior receiver Zack Selland teamed up on touchdown pass plays covering 24 and 48 yards, giving the Hawks a 13-0 lead at the end of the period.

In the second quarter, the Hawks really took off, scoring five TDs in the period. Houston threw a 35-yard touchdown pass to sophomore running back Colton Cosner to get the scoring parade started.

He then threw an 8-yard scoring pass to junior tight end Isaiah Hall before tossing TD passes of 75 and 41 yards to Selland.

Cosner then had a 47-yard interception return on the final play of the second quarter, pushing the Horizon Christian halftime lead to 47-14.

Houston had TD passes of 46 yards to Selland and 53 yards to junior receiver Parker Belan to complete the Hawks’ scoring in their 61-35 victory.

For the game, Selland had eight receptions for 267 yards and five touchdowns
