SHERWOOD — The Sherwood High School girls basketball team tried to rally late, but that rally came up just short.

The Lady Bowmen, after trailing Wilsonville by 16 going into the fourth quarter, fell 58-48 to the Wildcats in a Northwest Oregon Conference game played Tuesday at Sherwood High School.

Wilsonville improved to 6-7 in league play and to 9-13 on the season with the victory. Sherwood moved to 6-7 in NWOC play (7-15 overall), putting the Lady Bowmen in a tie with the Wildcats for fourth place in the league standings.

Sophomore post Mallory Shields was the leading scorer for Sherwood in Tuesday’s game with 18 points. Senior guard Kyeli Hendryx added 11 points and junior post Jaelyn Funk scored 10.

Prior to Tuesday’s game, the Lady Bowmen fell 63-36 to Milwaukie in a league contest played last Thursday at Milwaukie High School.

Hendryx paced Sherwood in that game with 15 points and Shields scored 10.

Sherwood will finish its league schedule Friday when it plays at Liberty in a game starting at 7:15 p.m.
