Tualatin girls triumph at league tourney


The Timberwolves win big at the Pacific Conference event at Chehalem Glenn

NEWBERG — The Tualatin High School girls golf team not only won at Tuesday’s Pacific Conference girls golf tournament, but the Timberwolves won big.

Tualatin took the top spot at Tuesday’s tournament, held at Chehalem Glenn Golf Course with a score of 399 strokes. That put the Wolves far ahead of second-place Forest Grove, which had a score of 463.

Junior Hayley Mortensen led the way for Tualatin at Tuesday’s tourney with a round of 83, which put her in second place in the individual standings.

Also for the Wolves, sophomore Bridget Nolan shot a 96, senior Aidan Grealish carded a 103, sophomore Mandy Pozo shot a 117 and senior Cheri Luikart had a 119.

For Tigard, junior Sooji Kim had a round of 121, freshman Megan Liles shot a 152 and freshman Molly Davis had a 156.

Forest Grove junior Hannah Swanson was the tourney medalist with a score of 80.

The next Pacific Conference tournament will be held Tuesday at Pumpkin Ridge.

In the boys league golf tournament held Monday at Chehalem Glenn, Glencoe took the top spot with a score of 321. Tigard wa second at 334 and Tualatin placed fourth with a total of 372.

Junior Corey Floom paced Tigard at the tournament with a score of 81.

For Tualatin, J.J. Paulson and Nicholas Cross each shot an 89. Jonahtan Whittle had a 95. Jackson Cesarini had a round of 99 and J.J. Carter shot a 108.
