Tiger teams run to wins over Glencoe

Tigard gets a sweep in the Pacific Conference opener


HILLSBORO — The Tigard High School track and field teams got their league season off to a flying start.

The Tigard opened their league slate by sweeping Glencoe in a league dual meet held April 3 at Glencoe High School.

Juniors Lindsey Rosette and Megan Franz and sophomore Liz Prouty each had a pair of individual victories to help the Tiger girls score a 95-50 win over Glencoe.

Rosette sprinted to victory in the 100-meter dash in a time of 13.20 seconds and she won the 100 high hurdles in 16.10. Rosette also teamed with Katie Harbolt, Kelly Fox and Sela Brazer to win the 4 x 400 relay with a mark of 4:26.58.

Franz triumphed in the 800 in 2:31.76 and she won the 1,500 with her time of 5:18.59.

Prouty cleared 10 feet, 6 inches to take first place in the pole vault event. She also had a winning distance of 15-10 in the long jump.

Also for the Tigard girls on the track, freshman Natalie Bryant won the 200 in a time of 27.59, sophomore Elizabeth Dean ran to victory in the 3,000 in 11:32.11.

Tigard swept the first-place finishes in the throwing events.

Senior Megan Risinger triumphed in the shot put with a throw of 34-1 1/2, senior Justyce Luna had a winning toss of 99-5 in the discus and senior Cassidy Freeman won the javelin event with a mark of 112-2.

The Tigard boys also came away with an impressive team victory, as they bested the Crimson Tide by a 99-46 margin.

Senior Zach Floyd jumped to a pair of victories to help the Tigers get the team win. Floyd triumphed in the long jump with a mark of 21-4 1/2 and he had a winning distance of 38-9 in the triple jump.

The Tigard boys also swept the relay races. In the 4 x 100 relay, the team of Floyd, senior Kaz Greene, senior Cameron Bremner and junior Manu Rasmussen won in a time of 44.17. In the 4 x 400 relay, the combination of junior Jett Even, junior Elijah Greenwalt-Simon, Rasmussen and sophomore Tyler Powers had a winning mark of 3:45.68.

Also for the Tigers, Bremner sprinted to victory in the 100 in 11.31, junior Martin Ramos III won the 800 in 2:06.83, junior Devin Roche had a winning mark of 9:40.90 in the 3,000, junior Nathanael Ditton won the 300 intermediate hurdles in 44.80, senior Blake Chamberlain had a winning throw of 125-5 in the discus, junior Cameron Yarnell won the javelin with a toss of 161-9, Greenwalt-Simon cleared 5-6 to win the high jump and junior Jake Opatrny cleared 10-6 to take first in the pole vault.

The Tigard teams were scheduled to host rival Tualatin in a league dual meet on Wednesday. Results of that meet weren’t available when the Times went to press.
