The Tigard High School football team reached that lofty aspiration for the regular season.

The Tigers wrapped up its perfect regular season by rolling to a 53-10 win over Forest Grove in a Pacific Conference finale played Friday at Forest Grove High School.

With the win, Tigard finished regular-season play with a 7-0 conference mark and an overall record of 9-0. Forest Grove finished the regular season with a 2-5 conference record and an overall mark of 4-5.

The Tigers wasted little time in jumping out in front in Friday’s game.

Tigard senior halfback Manu Rasmussen and senior quarterback Jett Even teamed up for a 74-yard touchdown pass play to give the Tigers a 6-0 lead just 33 seconds into the contest.

A 2-yard TD run by Rasmussen upped the margin to 13-0 with 7:53 remaining in the first quarter.

After Forest Grove got on the scoreboard with a 25-yard field goal by David Ortiz, the Tigers struck again. A 26-yard scoring pass from Even to junior receiver Brady McGetrick upped the Tigard lead to 20-3 with 1:07 remaining in the opening period.

Forest Grove came back with a big play of its own to start the second quarter, as junior quarterback Taylor Jensen threw a 74-yard touchdown pass to senior receiver Ethan Thursam on the first play from scrimmage in the period.

But the rest of the quarter belonged to the Tigers.

Rasmussen had touchdown runs of 32 and 18 yards and junior Landon Floyd added a 45-yard touchdown run to help Tigard take a 40-10 halftime lead.

In the second half, Tigard got a 2-yard touchdown pass from Even to senior tight end Jake Biglow and senior Justin Alvarizares scored on a 1-yard run to cap off the Tigers’ 53-10 victory.

Tigard had 550 yards of total offense in the victory, passing for 283 and rushing for 267.

Rasmussen led the rushing attack with 162 yards on 12 carries. He also had four touchdowns in the win, giving him 14 total TDs in the Tigers’ final three games of the regular season. Floyd rushed for 47 yards on just two carries and Alvarizares had 33 yards on seven carries.

Even completed 17 of 25 pass attempts for 273 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions.

McGetrick had four receptions for 70 yards and senior Bruin Campbell had four catches for 66 yards.

Senior defensive end Nick Duron helped lead the way for the Tigard defense with seven total tackles, including a pair of quarterback sacks. Biglow had three tackles for losses. Junior Tyler Walker had a fumble recovery, and 64-yard return, and senior Daren Rodrigues had an interception.

Tigard, the No. 2 team in the final OSAA power rankings, will next be in action Nov. 8 when it hosts a Class 6A state-playoff first-round game against a yet-to-be-determined opponent.
